AGAIN!

CALLING ALL AVID PACERS!

If you're anything like me, you LOVE to pace. I'm the person who will walk in circles for hours, pondering code, coming up with ideas, and daydreaming! While there are many step tracker apps out there, there's not really one specializing in tracking laps around a building, for example. That is where AGAIN! shines.

AGAIN! is a simple, gimmicky app that allows users to track the duration of their laps and see how many steps they took for each.

The App Catalyst is...

...a friend named Ty. He was the catalyst behind Angler Corner, and now, AGAIN! Because of my pacing antics within the Apple Dev Academy, he recommended me to start tracking my laps and how long they take. Starting out, I decided to track it all in a notepad. Between a drive to create something new and the inconvenience of the notepad system, AGAIN! was born.

Design Experimentation

I did not have any idea of what kind of design I wanted to do going into this app. I knew I wanted something super bright and energetic, while also maintaining the unique visual identity of my apps. Since most of my apps look like games by their UI, it was only right to continue down that path, but I also wanted to try to diversify it a little bit.
So, how do we do that? By picking orange as the main color. I love all colors, but orange was never a favorite of mine. Then, because I decided to go bold, I picked yellow-green as the accent color. That sounds like an atrocity, and at first, it was, but a friend of mine told me to stick by it.
At some point, I decided that because I was going with such bold branding to begin with, I needed a style that would match. Neo-brutalism was the first option that stuck out to me, and the one I went with. The strong linework, the bold lettering, and the faux-3D elements felt as fun as I wanted this app to be, so, the Neo-brutalist style stuck almost immediately. I will certainly be working with this style more in the future.

Lend Me Your Legs!

This app was created in something like 5 hours. With that comes bugs, ideas, and opportunities for collaboration! As such, I'd love for you to try this app out on TestFlight! If it gets enough love, I'll try to push it to the app store, but for now, if you have a newer iPhone and some time to spare, click the image on the right, give it a download and pace away!

Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon!
